Happy Birthday

Well okay, not really. Emi turned 2.5 on Sunday. We don't usually do a whole lot for birthdays, a special meal, cake, a few gifts, but we keep it pretty low key. It helps that she's just two and not yet into the whole party circuit (yes, sigh, that will come). We also do not have family here, so birthday celebrations are pretty small affairs (that will probably change with the move).

We didn't do a cake or wrap gifts. But on Monday, Miss Emi and I did a quick run over to TRU. Jeff and I had been talking lately about the fact that she seemed ready for Legos - or something equivilent for her age group. I had heard of Duplos so that was what we went in search of. We found that they didn't carry those, but had something similar ... Mega Blocks. So Emi and I spent our $20 and left with our prize. She has played with them non stop! What a hit. Emi never really figured out the stacking rings. She just couldn't grasp the concept of placing the larger rings on first (okay, Emi won't be an architect when she grows up, no biggie). Needless to say, the concept is the same for lego type toys. She still doesn't get the concept but maybe if her towers continue to fall over she will get the idea. For now, she's having a blast, wants us to play with her and is learning. She cannot wait for Jeff to get home, as the poor guy can't even get his shoes off before she's pulling him over to build with her. Very cute ... and gives mama a bit of time to get some things done!

We also celebrated by putting Emi's hair up into two pony tails. Completely wet hair, hair clips and hair spray and they still didn't last long. But she was beyond pleased, so that's all that matters.

We love you sweet girl, at every age and every stage.
